Job Profile

The company is recruiting a CWI/Fabrication Inspector who will evaluate and conduct repairs and modifications to Below the Hook lifting devices utilized in an overhead crane environment.

Mainly conduct an initial analysis of lifters, FARO Arm inspection and measurement on incoming materials, preparing reports on lifter condition, recommending solutions/improvements, and coordinating and conducting rebuilds and modifications to lifting devices.

Education Level

  • May require a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a metal fabrication environment or other equivalent experience
  • Certified Welding Inspector and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience preferred
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Experience with AC/DC power and motor controls is a plus
  • Welding Code D14.1 Qualification. Willing to qualify the appropriate candidate
  • Certified Welding Inspector CWI. Willing to certify the appropriate candidate

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections on incoming materials and equipment to be modified/repaired.
  • Ensures compliance with the process for the operation and maintenance of the cranes and lifting equipment including rigging and special-purpose lifting devices.
  • Provides technical support for troubleshooting activities.
  • Receives and analyses data from inspections to develop action plans for preventive maintenance and recommends corrective actions.
  • Technical support for contractors and outside parties for all lifting device repairs and modifications.
  • Train and qualify employees on inspections, repairs, and modifications.
  • Work with Operations and Planning to coordinate repairs/modifications of lifting equipment.
  • Works closely with the Below the Hook and Crane teams to determine the best course of action with repairs and modifications.
  • Works with the Engineering team to ensure that lifting devices are put into safe operational status and in proper condition for installation after refurbishing/modifications.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrates planning and organizational skills, with the ability to develop and execute plans.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has strong working knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Has the ability to work at heights, utilizing fall protection equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems of cranes/hoists/or similar equipment Possesses knowledge of maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills.
