Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Diesel Mechanic/Technician who will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants may be required a High School Diploma or GED
  • Air Brake Certification
  • DOT Medical Card required at Boss Shops
  • Tire Service Certified by TIA (within 18 months of employment)

Work Experience

  • Possess 2 years of minimum experience as a diesel technician

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Completes basic coolant repairs (thermostat, water pump, hoses, fittings, radiator, etc.)
  • Completes basic engine repair (belts, tensioners, pulleys).
  • Completes intermediate to Advance Wheel End repair (S-cam/bushing replacement, spindle repairs, race and bearing replacement, wheel seals, etc.)
  • Completes OSHA Skills Demonstration within the first week of employment.
  • Completes work orders by providing the necessary customer information, labor performed, parts used, and any other information for warranty purposes.
  • Conducts basic HVAC repair (evacuate, recharge, verify the cause of failure).
  • Conducts basic starting/charging (batteries, alternators, starters, etc.) and diagnostics.
  • Conducts intermediate to Advance Electrical repair and diagnoses the cause of failures.
  • Ensures all parts, tires, etc., are properly put away
  • Ensures all service equipment (jacks, tools, trucks) is in good working order, clean, and properly repaired when needed.
  • Ensures total customer satisfaction and the integrity of Bosselman
  • Greases trucks and trailers
  • Maintains cleanliness of the shop and keeps it free of clutter
  • Performs basic drivetrain and transmission repairs clutch adjustments, U-joints, carrier bearings, etc.)
  • Performs basic steering/suspension (shocks, reservoirs, filters, alignment, etc.)
  • Performs basic welding
  • Performs CSA/DOT inspections.
  • Performs intermediate air system repair (Basic diagnostics, tank replacement, airbags, leveling valves, dash valves, etc.)
  • Performs PMs and oil changes.
  • Performs service calls and night call-outs.
  • Performs tire services.
  • Practices and adheres to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.
  • Stays current on all LMS training.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training
  • Ability to get ASE, DOT, TIA, and other certifications
  • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service
  • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and as needed
  • Complete brake training
  • Complete wheel seal training
  • Must be able to communicate in English (if applicable)
  • Must have reliable transportation and phone
  • Must show proficiencies required by the Tech I training program
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive
