Job Profile
The company is hiring a Diesel Technician III with mastery in all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle systems with the ability to train and develop other Technicians.
Perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements.
Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.
Education Level
- Diesel Technology Associates Degree (college/university)
Work Experience
- 7 + years of experience with class 7 and 8 trucks
- Diagnostic experience
- Experience repairing 53’ trailers
- Training experience
- Welding experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adjust, remove, and replace clutches and drivelines.
- Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction(s)
- File, grind, sand, and smooth filled or repair surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
- Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Overhaul, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
- Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
- Perform tandem alignment, front axle kingpin, and bushing repairs.
- Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.
- Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric, and brake accessories).
- Review service stories provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.
- Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
- Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO” S, and custom exhaust systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles, and frames.
- Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam-type suspension systems.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to train Technicians
- Maintain perfect safety record
- Must provide hand tools, air tools, and a toolbox
- Strong customer service skills
