Job Profile
The company is searching for a Metallurgy Discipline Leader who will lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of advanced metallic materials and manufacturing technologies for a variety of aerospace products.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have completed a Bachelor’s Degree from a college/university and 10 years of prior relevant experience
- Advanced Degree (program) in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
- In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Work Experience
The candidates should have a proven applied research track record in one or more of the following sub-discipline areas-
- Advanced manufacturing processing of metals (additive manufacturing processes, heat treatment, welding, brazing, etc.)
- Destructive/Non-Destructive characterization techniques.
- Mechanical metallurgy, structure-property correlation
- Solidification processing (casting processes) and/or powder metallurgy and/or wrought alloys
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop a strategic vision for the capabilities under her/his responsibility including identifying long-term strategic technology investments and roadmaps in Metallurgical Engineering as they pertain to future and current Collins products; Staff technical hiring and development, and establishing partnerships with world-class academic institutions and across government laboratories to support the defined vision
- Hiring, evaluating, and supporting the group to achieve financial targets, develop an annual capital plan, and ensure thorough implementation of environmental health and safety policies in offices and laboratories
- Identify competency gaps and develop the necessary development plans to ensure the Metallurgical engineering team can sustain and grow critical skills
- Partner with and Manage PMO office, with individual project owners, peers, and senior management on the execution of technical work within her/his discipline to ensure high technical quality work and effective allocation of staff
- Supporting collaborative relationships with internal and external customers in the area of Metallurgical Engineering, and for ensuring timely delivery of new technologies, establishing a personal relationship with customer key contact points, and being a valued resource as our customers are developing their own roadmaps and strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- A track record in establishing and managing collaborative projects
- Developing strategic partnerships within the industry and/or academic institutions
- Excellent communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders
- Experience in building technical capability through hiring and technical mentoring of staff
- Experience in new material introductions and/or Technology maturation processes (For example TRL/MRL)
- Proposal development and proposal writing experience
