Job Profile

The company is seeking a Dock Worker (laborer) who will work as a barge cleaner at the American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) wash dock.

Education Level

• Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

• Previous experience (preferred, but not required)
• Crane operating experience (preferred, but not required)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assisting harbor boats, mechanics, and welders
• Cleaning preparation using pumps, wash hoses, and hooking up a crane
• Cleaning tank barges
• Cleaning the decks, hoppers, and covers of barges
• General cleaning and maintenance of crane barges, shops, and yards
• Use hand signals for safe crane operations
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to follow directions and execute tasks under the supervision of the lead person, assistant manager, and location manager
• Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and Holidays
• Ability to work in a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments and priorities depending upon identified needs of the operations
• Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
• Must be able to work in all types of climates
• Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work

• Reading and writing skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of documents

• Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights, and in confined spaces
• Frequent heavy lifting
• Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, and climbing stairs/ladders
• Standing for prolonged periods
