Work Experience

• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Promote Safety – Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation per MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Repair and Maintain Heavy Equipment – Assist coworkers with performing minor repairs on mobile and fixed equipment, including replacing or repairing defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
• Inspect Equipment – Review pre-shift and post-shift inspection reports, lubrication reports, and service records of draglines to ensure safety and performance. Inspect the wear, alignment, and function of the crane for any defective parts or equipment.
• Perform General Physical Activities – Perform various tasks assisting with the operation and housekeeping of the plant, including cleaning, washing, shoveling, and using hand tools.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge of Best Practices – Knowledge of general principles and practices regarding communication, safety, and operation of heavy equipment is preferred.
• Flexibility – Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Mechanical Skills – Must know industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
