Job Profile
The company is hiring an Electrical Assembler who will fabricate conduit for electrical or instrumentation wiring, and install switches, signals, wiring, etc., for electrical instruments on all product lines.
Install performance and mechanical instrumentation for testing compressors and turbines.
Assemble and test electrical power cables, system electrical feed-throughs, power cable support assemblies, and Vibration Monitoring System (VMS Bultheads)
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Operates portable welder as required.
- Perform stud welding as required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze all types of drawing and wiring diagrams to determine material needs and assembly specifications along with methods.
- Assist Instrumentation Specialists.
- Perform shaft surface micorpeening for vibration analysis
- Fabricates conduits with proper measuring and bending methods.
- Fabricates parts as required, using shop machines and hand tools.
- Helium leak checks with pressures up to 100 PSIG with 5 minutes of continuous monitoring.
- Installs conduits on unit per drawing, short forms, etc.
- Installs electrical wiring as called for by drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams, etc.
- Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, materials, and equipment in the proper place.
- Make any sketches required when drawings are not available.
- Makes all mechanical tests required on electrical equipment installed on the unit.
- Observe all safety rules and report hazardous conditions.
- Operate overhead cranes and jib cranes.
- Operates forklift truck and other material handling equipment.
- Performs helium leak checks on electrical components such as VMS feed-throughs and ammonia pump flex conduits.
- Performs hipot testing on electrical components such as power cables and feedthroughs. AC and DC hipot testing up to 30KV for 60 seconds
- Performs megger testing on electrical components such as power cables and feed-throughs. DC voltage megger testing up to 10KV for 60 seconds.
- Plans details of working procedure and determines tools and materials required.
- Prepares daily log of work accomplished and any difficulty that has been encountered and corrections made.
- Receives instructions from supervision.
- Receives wiring diagrams and work orders.
- Reports defective material and equipment to supervision as soon as it is discovered.
- Reports identifying data and time spent on jobs to foreman.
- Troubleshooting including checking resistance and voltages common with above connections to verify their integrity.
- Utilize computer to look up drawings, do email, and utilize various software used in testing and wiring compressors and turbines.
- Wipe and keep machines, tools, and the workplace clean.
- Wiring compressor and turbines for final shipment.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be able and willing to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
