Job Profile
The company is searching for an Engineering Manager who will lead a team of engineers and designers and will oversee all daily operations of the Department, with hands-on involvement, to design products and projects from order receipt through final detailing in an engineer-to-order (ETO) environment.
Develop employees and monitor the use of design standards within the group.
Ensure the accuracy of the drawings, bill of material (BOM), and ERP.
Assist in the development of cost-effective and product improvement strategies for existing products.
Lead value-engineering projects to ensure designs are up to industry standards and competitive.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or better in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a college/university
Work Experience
- Possess 3 years of management experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists the Sales and Estimating Groups with the development of proposals and quotes.
- Coordinates drawing releases and changes.
- Designing and detailing– including structural components, mechanical components, plate work, flat patterns, welding requirements, geometric dimensions and tolerancing, and machined parts as appropriate for to material handling systems for ash and fuel handling systems.
- Develop department objectives, focus areas, and goals in line with company objectives, and provide functional assignments within the department.
- Effectively learn and utilize the ERP system
- Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
- Improve existing and develop new processes and methods for the purpose of increasing output or efficiency and reducing costs.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure results meet requirements regarding quality, schedule, cost, and technical requirements.
- Managing multiple designers to ensure the final output of designs is functional, cost-effective, and meets customer requirements.
- Prepares, communicates, and monitors individual workloads to optimize and adhere to project schedules as well as capacity management, project status, and engineering lead times.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD systems.
- Provide technical expertise in product development projects, design reviews, verification, validation, and manufacturability involving R&D, Product Group, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other departments.
- Responsible for coaching, evaluating, and developing of team members to meet long and short-term department objectives.
- Responsible for maintaining required specialized competencies within the department to support products and projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of maintaining frequent contact with upper management, customers, vendors
- Understand, interpret, and verify compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Understands, applies, and advocates all company environmental, safety, and quality policies, procedures, and standards.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Communication skills – clear written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to complete multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
- Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job
- Must be skilled with MS Office Suite, mainly Word, and Excel.
- Problem-solving skills – use logic and methods to help solve problems.
- Safety-oriented with the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Working Knowledge – must understand the mechanics of the customer’s plant operation and how our product line applies.
Physical Demands
- Exposed to the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and particles
- Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
- Must be physically capable of accessing all locations at the customer site.
- Will be working in an office, manufacturing environment, and customer sites.
