Job Profile

The company is looking for an Engineering Technologist who will provide project management on pipeline and well site construction projects as well as pipeline integrity projects and ensure all pipeline, well site, and integrity projects proposed are initiated in an accurate and timely manner.

The individual will enter a training program consisting of course training, mentorship, and hands-on experience. You will spend up to two years in our Lloydminster field location or other field locations learning pipeline construction practices and quality control while developing construction and project management skills, ultimately moving into the Calgary office in the role of Pipeline Specialist.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should be Graduated within the last year or will be graduating by May from an Engineering Technology Diploma Program
  • Preference for Petroleum Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Welding Engineering Technology, or any other programs with a petroleum focus

Work Experience

  • Oil/gas experience is an asset, previous work experience as a student (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in specifying suitable well-site equipment and ensuring availability
  • Compile and distribute construction packages to project Construction Supervisors
  • Complete projects on time and on budget, working with production engineers, field operations, surface land staff, and contractors
  • Encourage safety awareness to prevent safety incidents or accidents on site
  • Enhance productivity by accurately forecasting pipe usage, and inventory needs and ensuring stock is available
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met prior to and during pipeline/well site/integrity construction
  • Input data and maintain a tracking system for pipeline activity
  • Prepare AFEs (Authorizations for Expenditure) for the pipeline, well-site, and integrity projects and track associated costs on approved projects
  • Prepare and distribute bid packages for a pipeline, well-site, and integrity projects to potential contractors and award to the successful bidder, co-coordinating with other pipeline staff to complete projects on time and on budget
  • Promote innovation by providing solutions that reduce construction, operating, and maintenance costs for new and existing pipeline infrastructure
  • Provide accurate cost estimates as required
  • Provide support for integrity projects

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • CSA Z662 understanding an asset
  • Pipeline and well-site construction practices and quality control
  • Pipeline inline inspection technology
  • The oil and gas industry particularly construction and/or field operations
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract
