Job Profile

The company is searching for an EO Machinist (Engineering Services Lead Tech) who will be responsible for manufacturing, installing, and repairing mechanical assemblies and projects.

Work includes engineering prototyping, field service, engineering installations, testing, certification, and repair of returned materials.

Perform complex setups, troubleshoot, and proficiently operate all machines in a production facility or all computer numerical control (CNC) with minimal supervision as well as grinding or jig bore machine families.

Participate in the assembly and modification of engineering prototype sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per engineering drawings or work instructions.

Ensure that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection and provide recommendations and collaboration in solving hardware integration issues with mid and upper-level engineering and leadership.

Comply with the company’s FOD program, tool control program, and all safety regulations.

Education Level

  • Typically requires a High School Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year Post High School training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.

Work Experience

  • Experience with manufacturing methods and processes, fabrication processes, mechanical fasteners, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicates and interacts with engineering and support personnel such as design engineers, tool engineers, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure RMS and Customer property are properly tracked and maintained.
  • Fills out engineering test reports.
  • Identifying, repairing, and replacing damaged hardware.
  • Keeping the supervisor appraised of all unresolved or potential problems that would negatively affect schedules or quality.
  • Operates equipment and fixtures/gages.
  • Promote a collaborative environment improving the development of parts and tooling that are functional as well as producible.
  • Providing support to the engineering development team on all assignments and assisting other departments with miscellaneous assignments as instructed by direct supervision.
  • Recognize failures, isolate problems, and suggest appropriate corrective action.
  • Replacement of mechanical and machined parts.
  • Set up and CNC machines to meet specified requirements.
  • Sets up and operates Precision Tool Room Lathes in the fabrication of prototype parts.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, detailed blueprints, and other similar authorized drawings and documents.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience and the ability to fabricate special tooling to complete one-of-a-kind tasking.
  • CNC machining skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate complex mechanical systems, subsystems, modules, components, and fixtures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in an engineering lab environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US government-issued security clearance is required.
  • US citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
