Job Profile
The company is searching for a Fabrication Coordinator with experience in the Oil and Gas Industry for Offshore and Onshore Assets.
Educational Qualification
- Fabrication and Welding Engineer qualified to HNC/HND level
- CWIP 3.2.2 Senior Welding Inspector (including Radiographic Interpretation)
Work Experience
- Exposure to working within a technical environment
- Oil and gas experience
- Relevant fabrication co-ordination and inspection experience
Duties/Responsibilities
People-
- Champion clear interaction with engineering, quality, and construction teams
- Clear communication and coordination with relevant site and office-based personnel
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with peer groups, management, and internal and external stakeholders
- Management of fabrication activities in the execution of operational delivery
- Possess strong teamwork and communication skills
- Proactively demonstrate and drive safety and leadership
Process Ownership-
- Accountable for the (applicable) fabrication deliverables to the required technical standards.
- Be compliant with company procedures and client codes and standards
- Continuous involvement with project management, engineering, quality, and planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of company processes and systems.
- Display awareness of project management system requirements.
- Ensure effective control of fabrication deliverables.
- If identified, react to change in scope, inform necessary parties, and complete in line with the relevant processes.
- Liaise closely with the relevant disciplines to ensure all fabrication deliverables are available to ship as per the specified gate criteria.
- Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
- To contribute discipline experience to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes, and team development.
- To support and provide inspection release activities.
Subject Matter Expertise-
- Ability to identify risks to delivery and build mitigation/contingency plans.
- Assist with compiling schedule of rates, bid lists and developing fabrication procurement strategies
- Demonstrate Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) leadership in line with company expectations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of technical specifications within your area of expertise.
- Have a good technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes.
- Provide intel on fabricators’ capacity and competency to execute specific scopes.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to determine the scope of work based on Drawings and BOMs issued by the Wood Engineer
- Ability to gauge market conditions using intelligence gained from preferred Fabrication Contractors
- Complete inspection and release activities ensuring that the information for the fabrication dossier is available prior to goods being released
- Ensure that full QA/QC requirements for the fabrication package are fully detailed at the quotation phase
- Ensure that technical queries are raised and logged to cover any fabricator-raised issues, expedite close out of the queries to prevent any delay to the fabrication schedule
- Liaise with the fabricators and report back to the morning meetings and the Construction Focal Points any areas of concern
- Liaise with the Material Controller to arrange delivery of the fabricated items
- Observing and checking areas of the fabrication process regular material traceability, consumable control, posting of WPS sheets, visual inspection of random welds observing the general appearance of the finished article
- On visiting the fabricators an overview of all fabrication activities falls within the Fabrication Co-ordinators remit (general safety, the use of PPE, material traceability, consumable control, a general overview on welding activities, i.e. Make sure WPS sheets are available at the workstations). Ensure flange protection is in place and good fabrication practices are being adopted
- Progressing receipt of fully completed Fabrication Dossier Packs
- Recommend fabricator based on project requirements (i.e. Cost, delivery, and current workload).
- Review and update the fabrication status report on a daily basis, highlighting any areas of concern to the relevant parties
- Review drawings and BOM’s to determine fabrication requirements
- Strong commercial awareness with good experience and knowledge gained associated with the Fabrication market
- To be working aligned with Wood Core Values and a strong P&M team member integrating with Wood Engineering, Construction, QA, Project Management, and liaising with Fabricators, Third Party Inspectors, and Warehouse
- To monitor the ongoing fabrication at the approved fabricators in line with the fabrication status report delivery dates, ensuring that the placed projects are being fabricated in accordance with the applicable codes and standards and on schedule to meet the agreed delivery dates
- To update and issue status reports in line with project requirements
- Visit the fabricators on a priority basis of delivery dates
