Trainee-

  • Typically, 0 to 1 years of experience
  • Learning departmental duties and functions

Level 1-

  • Typically, 1 to 3 years of experience
  • Still learning required job duties and functions
  • Can operate over 25% of the departmental tools and machines

Level 2-

  • Typically, a minimum of 4 years of experience
  • Performs normal duties and functions required for the position
  • Can operate over 50% of the departmental tools and machines

Level 3-

  • Typically, 6 plus years of experience
  • Performs above normal duties and functions required for the position
  • Ability to perform crossover duties and functions
  • Ability to train levels 1 and 2
  • Can operate over 75% of the departmental tools and machines

Lead-

  • Typically, a minimum of 6 years of experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Well respected by other employees
  • Performs above normal duties and functions required for the position
  • Ability to perform crossover duties and functions
  • Ability to train all other levels
  • Can operate over 75% of the departmental tools and machines

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to create shop fixtures as needed without supervision
  • Ability to operate the notcher, press, and saws (all types)
  • Ability to read and understand Complex Mechanical Fabrication Drawings and BOM
  • Ability to straighten fabricated members
  • Able to Arc/Stick weld carbon and/or stainless steel down to 1/8” thickness
  • Able to debur and perform other surface finishes, including polishing
  • Able to train Entry Level, Level I, and Level II fabricators
  • Have skills related to the Shear, Break, Punch, and other fabrication related equipment
  • Assist Assembly as needed
  • Assist Machine Shop as needed
  • Assist Service Department as needed
  • Assist Shop Foreman in his absence
  • Can handle and operate standard Fabrication hand tools, i.e. Drills, grinders, etc.
  • Capable of looking up Work Order related information in Navision
  • Communicate as needed with the Engineering Department
  • Complete understanding of the requirements related to all fit up assignments
  • Handle all ranges of Non-Complex to Complex Welding of fabricated parts
  • Keep working area organized and clean
  • Must be able to perform Complex Layout and Fit-up skills
  • Must be willing and capable of working overtime as needed at a 1.5 hourly rate
  • Must Clock in and out of Jobs and Work Orders to keep accurate labor hours
  • Other activities required as needed to meet the required ship dates
  • Purge Welding
  • Requires no training assistants from fellow Level II or below fabricators
  • Stainless Steel MIG Welding down to 16 ga. thickness
  • Stainless Steel TIG Welding down to 18 ga. thickness

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to operate typical fabrication hand tools
  • Above-average ability to learn
  • Certified Forklift operator preferred
  • Clean driving record preferred
  • Dependable
  • Experienced in Fabrication or related activities
  • Good leader
  • Own tools required to perform the job duties as specified
  • Some Computer skills including Microsoft Office software

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs., stand for periods of time, specific vision abilities required (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)
