Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Fabricator (Misc. Metals) who will safely lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, structural forms such as buildings, stairs, and rail parts by performing the following duties.

Education Level

• High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational School

Work Experience

• 3-5 years of layout/fabrication experience or technical schooling (highly desired)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
• Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Maintains the works area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be able to perform layout on most complex stairs, rails, columns, beams, and trustees.
• Must be familiar with the basic machine functions to perform the tasks stated above.
• Must be willing to receive and accept frequent supervision and assistance about weld setups/changeovers.
• Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
• Performs structural steel or miscellaneous metals fitting and layout operations to support production needs.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
• May perform other duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Basic shop math, reading, writing, and interpreting English, basic mechanical skills, effectively utilizing lifting devices, ability to interpret shop paperwork and work instructions, ability to verify logs and procedures for accuracy
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communication skills (desired)

Working Conditions

• Frequently exposed fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions within a manufacturing environment.
