Job Profile

The company is seeking a Fabricator/Tool Maker who will ensure all plant and facility equipment associated with the successful fabrication of the product is serviced and maintained in a timely manner.

Responsible for troubleshooting systems; performing preventive and predictive maintenance on all installed equipment to minimize downtime, while keeping safety and quality as a priority; providing training and technical support to Assembly and Maintenance Team Members.

Assists in production operations, and supports Management, Area Leaders, and Production Associates by acting as a liaison in matters regarding automation, safety, and continuous improvement for equipment, processes, and productivity.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Journeyman status in Tool and Die or equivalent knowledge and 6 years of experience (preferred)
  • Extensive experience in stamped and welded assemblies including related clamping, fixturing, and part fit-up

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, repair, install, and test new or existing equipment and verify conformance to specifications. (robot/welding/fixtures)
  • Complete repairs, modifications, and installations as required.
  • Provide plant support in troubleshooting process problems and completes quality improvements as required to maintain part standards of quality. Establish a cross-functional team for reliability issues
  • Deal extensively with the production team and other support groups as well as vendors (both parts suppliers and equipment suppliers).
  • Department support for testing, repairing, and calibrating measurement components. Validates reliability issues with components and investigates repeat component failures.
  • Carries out preventative/predictive maintenance procedures as laid out by CBAM and the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Takes part in the continuous improvement process to improve productivity and quality (provides suggestions at team meetings, understands losses and gives ideas/solutions, participates in trials/experiments, volunteers on a committee or focus group activities, etc.) cost reduction activities; repairs and systems improvements (optimization) and focuses on solutions. Documents improvements and analysis data, ensuring swift and effective implementation.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
  • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to operate machine tools such as Tig/Mig/Arc welders, lathes, milling machines
  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures, and guidelines
  • Able to use computer and software as required
  • Able to work on blueprints and sketches
  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations
  • Strong understanding of GD&T to enable data-driven assembly fixture adjustments
