Job Profile
The company is hiring a Field/Pump Diagnostic Mechanic I who will safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of pump systems and associated equipment.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 2 years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist, or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.

- FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I: The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving a 35% score on a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities or academic knowledge; as well as safety. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills.
- Knowledge of APP inspections
- Knowledge of the blue stake process
- Must be proficient in multiple types of welding, fabrication, and layout
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
- Valid Driver’s License
Duties/Responsibilities
- Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
- May operate equipment such as trucks, bobcats, forklifts, mobile cranes, backhoes, loaders, road graders, and small mobile equipment.
- Perform advanced welding (Stick, Mig, Intershield, Drisco Fusion) and fabrication of brackets, headers, and other related components.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on pumping systems by checking bearings “grease and purge”, motor temp, coupling temp, adjusting packing, checking for visual and vibration signs of breakdown ext.
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Troubleshoot and perform the removal, repair, and installation of pumps, pipelines, fire water systems, interceptor wells, potable water systems, hydraulic systems, and their associated parts.
- Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic computer skills
- Basic Pneumatics
- Experience and comfort working at heights
- General Plant Maintenance experience: concrete, cold patch, roofing, carpentry, etc.
- Mechanical experience with Fractional HP Pumps and gearboxes troubleshooting.
- Previous experience with Pumps, Piping, and related systems
- Previous mine experience
- Welding experience with SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and basic fabrication.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
- Occasionally may be asked required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required
- This is a Safety sensitive role
- Required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, see and work in confined spaces
- Work is performed in a mining or industrial environment which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles
