Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Field Service Mechanic who will support mining operations by keeping heavy mobile equipment in good operating condition to meet production needs.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

  • 4 to 5 years of experience working on heavy mobile equipment in a mining environment (preferred)

License/Certification

  • A Valid Driver’s License (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to diagnose breakdowns
  • Able to perform repairs like removing and installing motors, spring and brake work, and general repairs
  • Be able to communicate with your supervisors, drivers, and function as a team member
  • Be able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the product or plant manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures, and applicable government regulations
  • Coordinates with plant or maintenance managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines to be completed on time.
  • Identifies mechanical problems visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
  • Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Oils and lubricate moving parts on heavy equipment in a mining environment to ensure effective performance.
  • Order and install replacement parts for heavy mobile equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Performs preventative maintenance or makes repairs on rolling stock and heavy equipment (e.g., Oil changes, clean-out)
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Requires driving a field service truck between locations to perform repairs
  • Sound problem-solving skills

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment and repair.
  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
  • Stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required, and lift weights up to 60 pounds.
  • The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)

Work Environment

  • Handle heavy tools and machinery
  • Must follow safety protocols in varied environments
  • Travel frequently to different job sites
  • Work in remote or confined locations
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
