Job Profile

The company is hiring a Field Service Technician who will provide a variety of service, training, and technical service support activities for a variety of cryogenic applications including mobile vehicles

Education Level

  • Technical Diploma/Certification required, preferably welding-related

Work Experience

  • At least 1-2 years of experience, TIG welding experience, preferably with piping

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adhere to contractual service agreements per sales and customer service directives.
  • Coordinate contact with all levels of supervision.
  • Coordinate, perform, and report results from testing. This includes logging results as required by written or verbal instructions.
  • Ensure timely and continuous quality service to the customer, by phone or site visits when necessary.
  • Extensive rail car repair.
  • Install equipment including bulk tanks, pipe, vaporizers, skids, dosers, etc. Some equipment may require the use of forklifts or contracted crane companies
  • Maintain tools and test equipment used for commissioning/service.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  • Perform quality tests as instructed by work instructions, engineering, or supervisor to ensure product quality.
  • Prepare detailed service reports.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and use of troubleshooting tools and meters.
  • Read and understand plumbing schematics.
  • Troubleshoot control systems.
  • Utilize ISO 9000 knowledge and application standards.
  • Weld using MIG or TIG in field conditions.
  • Work with the manager on customer communication.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read electrical and plumbing schematics preferred.
  • Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids and gases, and thermodynamics.
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Controls and PLCs
  • Excellent communication skills used in answering customer’s questions and performing field service.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of personal computers including MS Office, and JD Edwards.
  • Read and understand detailed blueprints.
  • Work well in teams and independently.

Work Environment

  • Both outdoor and indoor work.
  • Exposure to metal cuttings and welding odors.
  • Extensive travel to customer sites.
  • Frequent lifting up to 75 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, and walking,
  • May involve exposure to temperature extremes
  • Occasional pushing, and pulling of materials up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work
  • Office and plant work.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment.
