Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Field Superintendent who will be responsible for ensuring that jobs in the field are performed efficiently, safely, and in a quality manner.
Primary contact for Field Foreman and will direct the Field Foreman as needed regarding site-related activities.
Work with the Operations Managers and the Project Managers to achieve these goals.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- 5+ years of Supervisory experience in construction or industrial environments
- 10+ years of experience in the AST (Above Ground Storage Tank industry), Minimum 5 years of experience in API 650/653 repair and maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in identifying the scope of work changes.
- Assist with the maintenance of HMT-owned equipment as needed. Communicate with the Lead Superintendent regarding equipment problems.
- Assist with the training of employees as needed
- Assume the site-related project duties of Field Foreman when they are scheduled for vacation or take personal time away from the job.
- Attending job walks and bid meetings as needed to assist the Project Managers in determining the site conditions and developing the scope of work for customer quotations.
- Certified to run and able to train employees on typical equipment found on large jobs. This would include lull, skid steer loaders, aerial equipment such as man lifts, Boom lifts, etc.
- Communicate any problems with fieldwork to the Operations Manager and Project Managers and assist in resolving those problems.
- Communicate with the Operations Manager & Project Manager regarding job schedules and performance issues that may arise.
- Coordinate communication among your team members, the customer, and subcontractors as needed.
- Ensure that all HMT safety policies and procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all QA/QC policies and procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that jobs are being executed efficiently and that the Field Foreman has all the resources needed to achieve the goal of completing the job on time and under budget.
- Ensure/Audit Field Progress Reports to ensure accuracy
- Qualified to operate a 35-ton crane is a plus
- Responsible for the training of crew members in tank building. Superintendents are expected to train prospective employees to become Field Foreman.
- Work closely with the team to promote a positive working environment.
- Any other task or duty as assigned or required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to complete all required paperwork associated with safety and QA/QC without assistance.
- Ability to handle multiple jobs concurrently.
- Ability to interpret field and fabrication drawings.
- Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle a broad scope of responsibility.
- Detail-oriented, Excellent organizational skills
- Maintain accurate Field Progress Reports.
- Must be able to weld in all positions with SMAW, FCAW, and SAW
- Must be DOT OQ qualified.
- Must be willing to travel for long periods
- Must have a 3-year clean driver record
- Must have experience managing multiple crews/ job sites.
- Thorough understanding of construction scheduling and cost control; comprehensive knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards; Sound communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills;
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, climb, carry, push/pull, and use repetitive wrist and hand movements.
- May be required to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds.
- Hearing and seeing the ability of rapid mental coordination. It is required to be mentally alert for the entirety of the shift.
Work Environment
- May be subject to extreme temperatures, working in high places, etc.
- Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, fumes/odors, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with pressurized equipment, high places, hazardous materials, and working alone.
- Supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
