Job Profile

The company (ThyssenKrupp Polysius North America) is searching for a Field Supervisor who will perform supervisory functions for the tkIS location in Milwaukee, WI.

Organize, direct, evaluate, and control field repair activities under company and customer expectations, plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule services required for Field Repair projects (e.g., crane services, rental equipment, welding consumables, and gases).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety.
  • Ensure workplace safety standards are maintained.
  • Interact and work closely with customers, contractors, engineers, and project managers to achieve customer expectations and goals.
  • Perform workplace inspections.
  • Plan and coordinate the daily scope of work and during service projects.
  • Provide detailed instructions to Field support personnel including equipment and supplies required for upcoming Field Repair projects.
  • Supervise Field Mechanic/Welding personnel performing Field Repair work.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required by project schedules.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Candidate must possess a valid US driver’s license.
  • Effective coping skills to work in a potentially stressful environment which includes the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting customer commitments and internal objectives.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The ability to respond quickly, decisively, and appropriately to problems is very important.
  • The ability to understand and communicate complex and/or technical concepts is critical to the success of this position.
  • Requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data and drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to show initiative and decisiveness.
  • Dedication to safe and environmentally compliant work.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Prior experience supervising field service or repair and construction activities in a Cement, Paper, or Mineral/Aggregate processing environment.
  • Supervisory experience in a construction environment, ideally cement, paper, or mining.
  • Work well within a team environment.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment at all times. These include, but are not limited to, steel-toed boots, fall protection, respirators, hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hats, face shields, and face coverings (if mandated).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently is required to walk and stand and is occasionally required to climb.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to comply with Company safety procedures (including use of personal protective equipment) at any time.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and smell.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat.
  • The work requires using ladders, scaffolding, and catwalks to access elevated areas.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Travel Demands

  • Total annual travel time could be up to 75% or more.
  • Requires extensive travel throughout the United States, and the employee is regularly required to travel for several weeks at a time working 12-hour shifts seven days per week.
