Job Profile

The company is looking for a Fitter who can identify items on the bill of material listed on a sketch. Pull items to the table, verify items match what is listed on the sketch and fabricate per detail following Job Instruction Sheet and Weld Procedure Sheet.

Educational Qualification

  • The aspiring applicants should have a High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have required field experience or in a related area.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations
  • Cut metal plates or structural shapes
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Layout, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions. – Bolts, clamps, and welds together metal components of products, such as piping systems, plate, pipe, and tube or structural shapes
  • Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using a wire brush, or portable grinder
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment
  • Preheat workpiece, using hand torch
  • Remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using hand-held grinder or gas torch, hand scrapper, grinder, or power chipper
  • Works in conjunction with other departments (Cutting operations and bay pulling) to ensure all relative materials are properly staged and ready for fabrication

Position Levels

Fitter I

  • 1-2 years of pipe fabrication experience
  • General knowledge of machines, designs, repair, and maintenance
  • General knowledge of tools, equipment, blueprints, models, and technical plans

Fitter II

  • 2-3 years of pipe fabrication experience
  • Extensive knowledge of design techniques, production of technical plans, blueprints, models, and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of materials, methods, and principles involved in the production of precise technical designs, uses, and maintenance

Fitter III

  • 3-4 plus years of pipe fabrication experience
  • Expert knowledge of design techniques, methods, production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings
  • Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Fitter IV

  • 5 plus years of pipe fabrication experience
  • Ability to move to any station and determine metallurgy and size without hesitation.
  • Expert knowledge of design techniques, methods, production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings
  • Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
