The company (Trinity Rail Maintenance Services) is hiring a Fitter/Welder to join its team.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Accurately measures within specified tolerances
• Checks and inspects welds according to specifications.
• Gathers materials; sets up welding equipment. Lays out, measures, cuts, or burns, and fits into place. Replace welding wire or rod as necessary.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• May perform GMAW, FCAW, or SMAW welding
• May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Follows all safety rules and practices.
• May weld on stainless
• MIG, TIG, submerged arc, stick electrode, auto-welder, hand grinder, measuring tools, burning equipment, cutting torch, hammers, wrenches, material handling equipment, back-gouging equipment, and hydraulic and pneumatic tools.
• Moves material to next station or storage.
• Observe all standard safety practices and maintain and complete all required records.
• Performs out-of-position welding and repairs
• Performs welding function.
• Predictable, regular attendance is required.
• Reads blueprints and Weld Symbols
• Reworks on welds including back-gouging.
• Safely and efficiently performs all essential functions.
• To layout, cut, fit, and attach various pieces of metal by all types of welding.
• Use of safety equipment may include respirators.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• May work in confined spaces.
• Proficient at Carbon Arcing
• Proficient at fillet and grove welds
• Proficient at Oxy Fuel Cutting
