The company is looking for a Hardener Operator (Heat Treat) to join its team.

Educational Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Work Experience

• 1-2 years of experience (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Check all coil ID tags for correct specifications and to assure completion of previous operations. Set the feed rate and check the speed with the stopwatch. Use an overhead hoist to place the coil on the play-out table. Join the start of the new coil to the end of the preceding coil by resistance butt welding for continuous operation. Check direct reading instruments for temperature and monitor nitrogen atmosphere makeup. As necessary, make adjustments to air jets, induction coils, etc. Cut sections from each coil and check teeth and gullet for visual defects. Use the vernier caliper to check the stretch against the reference chart.
• Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials, as well as unusual situations.
• Observe and obey all safety rules, practices, and procedures.
• Secure hardened coils with wire and place them on a tempering rack or appropriate skid. Transport full racks or skids to the next process.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge of charts, specifications, and micrometers
• Light physical effort is required, equivalent to lifting, pushing, and pulling 5 to 25 pounds
• Use of numbers including decimals
