Job Profile

The company is searching for an HSC Welder who will weld repair castings, caps, and core plugs that have surface or internal defects or make the casting unacceptable to the customer.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • Requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related gas tungsten ARC welding (GTAW/TIG) experience or training

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to mirror weld and produce NDT quality welds
  • Construct copper back-ups when necessary
  • Measure, document, and map welds
  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime
  • Operate and maintain welding table and argon purification equipment
  • Perform necessary adjustments to the power source gauges. Hold argon CFH from 5-30 CFH. Welding 70 – 150 AMP maximum, except for ECY 768 (125-amp max)
  • Produce NDT quality welds using .045” to .125” diameter weld wire for multiple alloys (Ti-6-4, Ti-6-2-4-2, IN718, etc.)
  • Record data either manually or by computer as required
  • Review, maintain, and understand work instructions
  • Use and maintain the proper weld wire per alloy

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

All Welders must meet the requirements of Activity Instructions 4000.205 or AMS 2694. Must successfully pass the following welder’s certification test.

Repair weld certification to ASME Boiler and PV Code Sec. IX or AMS 2694-

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Frequently, it is required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move with mechanical assistance up to or more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Equipment Used

  • Welding power source, gas tungsten arc, welding (GTAW) torches, argon purification equipment, welding shield, mirrors, coolant, and gloves.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
