Job Profile

The company is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Electrician II who will service and perform preventive/predictive maintenance on plant electrical systems and equipment.

Electrician II-

An Electrician II is responsible for items described for an Electrician I but requires stronger work experience within each function.  Limited supervision is required.  May help to direct Level I Electricians in the performance of their duties and provide them with on-the-job training (OJT) as necessary. Performance is expected to be at an intermediate to advanced level capacity. Promotion from Electrician I based on criteria determined by management.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • 4-20 MA
  • 480 V 3 Phase power
  • AC + DC Drives
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Calibrate welding machines.
  • Communicate with the maintenance supervisor, affected employees, plant leadership, and maintenance mechanics on downtime, equipment issues, repairs ETA’s, and parts and supply needs.
  • Communicates with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose the cause of malfunction, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules, and regulations
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as motors and welders.
  • Evaluate the work environment for safe working conditions before any work is performed.
  • Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Follows all safety and company policies/procedures and promotes a safe culture
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Install conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Installs power and lighting circuits and repairs distribution circuits.
  • Must be able to perform Root Cause Analysis exercises on equipment failures, using tools such as 5-whys and cause-effect systems.
  • Must be competent with the use of PC, email, text messaging, internet research, and software-based maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Records repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Responsible for Lock-Out and Arc Flash procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving department lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives. Fabricates replacement parts for equipment or safety items.
  • Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify proper and safe operation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, multitask, and work independently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work against and meet deadlines.
  • Assists in the company’s Preventative Maintenance Program and follows all safety rules and regulations.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Computer skills are needed. Microsoft Word is needed to generate documents as needed.
  • Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Read precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Reading gauges and watching guides.
  • Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and repair manuals to provide required technical support.
  • Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers and coordinate findings and recommendations with the Maintenance, Production, and Controls Department.

  • Electrical License, Plant Journeyman or higher (strongly desired)
  • Fork Truck and material handling equipment
  • A Valid State Driver’s License
