Job Profile

The company is seeking an Industrial Mechanic I to join its team.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • 7 years of experience as an industrial mechanic
  • Completion of an industrial mechanic apprenticeship program, or equivalent

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adjust machinery, and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment before installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
  • Be responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting any unsafe practices/conditions immediately.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Construct foundations for machinery.
  • Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment using hand and power tools according to layout plans.
  • Make recommendations to management and engineering for the improvement of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Recommend replacement of equipment as required and assess the condition of used equipment before purchase.
  • Schedule routine preventative maintenance work.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial environment experience
  • Related military experience with government equipment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints
  • Proficient in computer skills (MS Excel)

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day
