Job Profile

The company is looking for an Industrial Plumber who will be responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on general facilities, and utility system equipment, including all aspects of plumbing and mechanical equipment. (Examples include motors, pumps, piping, steam traps, valves, drains, and other equipment)

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or demonstrated equivalent

Work Experience

  • Possess 5 years of experience as a plumber in an industrial facility performing mechanical maintenance, or demonstrated an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and as-built schematics.
  • Acting as lead worker and mentor to other technicians in this field.
  • Completing all assigned training from both customers and Amentum.
  • Complying with all safety requirements when performing tasks including job hazard analysis, Lockout/Tagout, wearing PPE, and others as required.
  • Determining the nature of problems, and executing appropriate solutions, as well as being able to think of alternative solutions to minimize downtime of critical equipment while assuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Operating mechanical equipment effectively and safely.
  • Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical/electrical systems equipment such as pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, valves, and other equipment as required.
  • Performing installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodeling, and repair of all aspects of mechanical plumbing equipment, including plumbing fixtures, water systems, steam systems, sewage systems, lab waste, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.
  • Performing related fieldwork as well as assisting other trades as required.
  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Researching and ordering parts, equipment, and upkeep of inventory.
  • Reviewing/completing service and pm requests using the work order system. Able to learn and use the EAMS work order system.
  • Seeking assistance from higher level technicians and supervisor/management when necessary in order to complete work with the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations.
  • Using hand and power tools safely.
  • Working with all aspects of plumbing systems in an industrial facility including the type of material used such as Victaulic, acid waste pipe, DI pipe, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to interpret blueprints.
  • Certified Journeyman plumber.
  • Experience inspecting and testing water backflow systems and preparing documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Experience inspecting, repairing, or replacing pumps, valves, traps, DI components, and steam components.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing and related fixtures and components.
  • Experience performing maintenance on equipment – replacing components such as washers, gaskets, and filters.
  • Experience repairing acid waste piping (Orion fusion and mechanical joint joining system certification).
  • Experience repairing piping of various sizes and types.
  • Experience researching, placing orders, and keeping inventory of equipment, parts, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Experience with brazing, soldering, and welding.
  • Experience with medium and low-pressure steam and condensate systems.
  • Experience with repairing and installing pumps, motors, and associated components.
  • Experience working in a large research and development facility.
  • Spiral Sacro steam traps training.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
  • Ability to pass a Tuberculosis test prior to employment or be medically cleared for Tuberculosis by a medical professional and be able to maintain annual negative results.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during the shift
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

Special Requirements

  • Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job or the work environment.
