Job Profile

The company is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician (a Journeyman level Technician position) who will be responsible for completing scheduled and routine maintenance work along with performing many other duties, both as part of a team and independently.

Duties for mechanical maintenance technicians include but are not restricted to, repair, preventive, and predictive maintenance.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants should have a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
  • Age: Must be at least age 18

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 3 or more years of verifiable experience as a J1 Millwright, Machinist, Welder, or Pipefitter.
  • Experience in Heavy Industrial Maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a multi-skill mechanic
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment
  • Strong math/physics understanding
  • 2-year Associate Degree in one of the IP Core Maintenance skills or related disciplines (Millwright, Machinist, Welding, or Pipefitting)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Align machines and equipment using hoist jacks, hand tools, dial indicators
  • Assemble and install equipment
  • Assist electrical craft as needed
  • Dismantle machines as needed
  • Fabricate structural materials as needed
  • Have computer skills
  • Install machine and equipment according to lay-out plan, blueprints, and other drawings
  • Install machinery; new and existing equipment
  • May repair and lubricate machine and equipment
  • Measure for bearing clearance and shaft diameters
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
  • Obtain daily work orders
  • Operate cranes, tow motors, and forklifts
  • Read blueprints and drawings
  • Refurbish/Maintain valves, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, agitators, conveyors, turbines, paper machines, lime kiln
  • Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues
  • Utilize hoist, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Continue to develop skills to become a multi-skill mechanic (including millwright, welding, and other fields as needed)
  • Must satisfactorily pass pre-employment assessment testing and post-offer drug/alcohol screen, background check, and physical
  • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, and heavy machinery or elevated work surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Respond to emergencies during off-hours and weekends
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
  • Wear all required safety equipment and PPE
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Work in a tobacco-free environment
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last-minute notification
