Job Profile
The company is looking for a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic who will install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems, components, and apparatus on industrial machinery and equipment.
Provides maintenance support to ensure the manufacturing process is continuous.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- Journeyman Maintenance with 4 years of experience in pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, or machine repair, or has completed a state-certified 4-year apprentice program in any of the above trades.
- Will be required to pass a hands-on performance test
- Must complete and successfully pass the Work Keys to be considered. (Will be administered by OhioMeansJobs if the candidate has not previously taken Work Keys)
License/Certification
- Must pass the written Ramsay MecTest and with an 80% or higher. (Test will be administered by C-TEC if the candidate has not previously taken the Ramsey MecTest)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Able to install, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct general mechanical problems on industrial machinery
- Advanced skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
- Assist in the development and completion of PM and Predictive maintenance programs for all motors, panels, and mechanical components/systems
- Assists with the mechanical training of other maintenance personnel
- Attend all required training
- Calibration of machinery, balancing, and alignment of fans
- Capable of reading schematics and blueprints
- Complete and maintain plant required records and reports
- Comply with all Company and Plant rules
- Comply with all safety requirements and notify appropriate personnel of exceptions
- Comply with good housekeeping practices on the job and ensure work areas are clean and picked up after each job is completed
- Follow all environmental compliance policies and programs
- Follow through and complete assigned jobs
- Knowledge of burner systems, including troubleshooting and properly tuning
- Take personal ownership to work safely every day and hold other team members to the same level of high safety standards
- Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunctions with other mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, and operations team members
- Works as instructed with outside contractors
- Perform other duties as assigned by the area supervisors
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to communicate in English
- Able to think under pressure and make quick and safe decisions
- Basic blueprint and schematic reading
- Experience utilizing SAP is preferred, but not required
- Good attention to detail
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Maintenance-Related Computer Skills
- Multi-skilled training is preferred.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Work independently with minimal direct supervision and drive toward accomplishment, and produce high-quality work
Work Environment
- Ability to stand for 10-12 hours straight
- Able to climb and descend stairs for up to 12 hours continuously
- Able to climb on and off a forklift
- Able to do repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements for several hours
- Able to squat, bend at the waist, and knees freely
- Bending and twisting
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
- Exposures to temperature extremes
- Handle, control, or feel objects, tools
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds more than 100 times per day
- Repetitive movement
- Wear required personal protective equipment (bump cap/hard hat, gloves, steel-toed shoes, ear protection, arc flash gear, and respirator when required)
