Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Journeyman Pipefitter who will work involving installing, cutting, bending, threading, modifying, and repairing new and existing steam, hydraulic, fuel, and water systems and their associated equipment.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should be High School Graduates or Equivalent
Work Experience
- Possess 3 years of shipboard pipefitting experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to obtain access to Navy ships per Navy D-BIDS requirement
- Ability to read and interpret work specifications, MIL SPECS, Installation Drawings, NAVSEA Standard Items 009-03, 009-07, 009-12
- Capable of becoming qualified in Brazing
- Effectively utilize workers assigned to accomplish a task
- Familiar with standard pipe fitting practices, processes, and materials
- Install relief valves, check valves, pressure regulators, expansion joints, and other pressure-supporting and controlling devices according to the plan and sketches
- Mastery of blueprints, drawings, sketches, and symbols
- Must be able to set up and perform testing requirements for piping systems in accordance with Standard Item 009-71
- Must be proficient in figuring pipe, accessories, and pipe hanger supports to control movement and vibration and allow for expansion and contraction
- Plan and layout routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of various piping systems and equipment
- Possess the ability to use a burning torch and brazing torch to include proper routing of hose and drop test before actual use
- Set up portable equipment such as a local exhaust system, temporary lighting, and ladders
- Thorough understanding of the industry work standards, safety rules, and regulations that apply to each assigned work activity
- Understand pipefitting terms, definitions, abbreviations, and ship’s layout
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
- Work with little or no supervision from the task supervisor
