Job Profile
The company is searching for a Junior Metallurgist who will support melting, heat treatment, welding, chemical processing, and laboratory functions.
Purchase of new material, and the control of existing re-met and scrap.
Education Level
- Post-Secondary Education in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized university or college.
Work Experience
- 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset.
- Experience with Solid Works, AutoCAD, and metal solidification simulation software (MAGMA) will be considered an asset.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist the Plant Metallurgist with melting, heat treatment, welding/chemical processing, and laboratory functions.
- Participate in continuous improvement of the lab and melt department. Melt, heat treatment, welding, chemical processing, and laboratory functions.
- Purchase new material and control of existing re-melt and scrap.
- Represent Magellan Aerospace, Haley for all foundry-related special process audits.
- Support the supervision of the laboratory
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to achieve objectives and goals within tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of software; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other desktop applications.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate motivate and develop teamwork.
