Job Profile

The company is searching for a Junior Pipeline Engineer who will enhance technical skills in performing pipeline design, consulting and calculations, and assisting in the preparation of pipeline deliverables.

The position will report to the Pipeline Lead or Engineering Manager.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering
  • Eligibility or registration as an EIT or Engineer in a western Canadian engineering regulatory body (APEGA, EGBC, etc.)

Work Experience

  • Possess 1 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Canadian engineering codes
  • Experience working in an EPC engineering or owner/operator environment (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing safety, loss control, and environmental programs
  • Be responsible for personal safety and safe work practices, in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures
  • Contribute to cost estimates in small to large-sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines under senior supervision
  • Create material requisitions and, if necessary, review quotations for compliance with technical specifications under senior supervision
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within specifications, scope, budget, and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose, and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
  • Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface and accurate exchange of technical data
  • Perform design work and ensure the drafting of the pipeline alignment sheets, detailed crossings plans, and related pipeline facilities is accurate
  • Provide appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team
  • Relieve supervising engineer of minor details
  • Take part in research, line sizing, crossing layouts, buoyancy calculations, hydraulics, alignment sheets, technical specification development, and general assistance to senior engineers for pipeline projects
  • Work within the provisions and guidelines of the relevant Quality Assurance system

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong oral and written English skills
