Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Lead Piping Engineer who will apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of piping engineering principles and practices to the organization’s products and services.
Plan, schedule and assign/supervise or conduct broad or technically complex engineering assignments requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection, and significant adaptation and deviation from standard techniques and procedures.
Educational Qualification
- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a college/university
Work Experience
- 10-15 years of related experience with a minimum of 7 years focusing on mining projects
- Must have a Professional Engineer (PEng) designation
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to project budget and schedules
- Assist in manpower plans for capital projects as well as provide estimates for engineering output to appropriate clients
- Assist with the development of Process Flow Sheets, PFDs and P&IDs
- Coordinate and work with project team members in Canada.
- Co-ordinate the piping design activities with other disciplines
- Deliver a fit-for-purpose piping design for the construction
- Design and develop Utility Flow Sheets, PFDs, and P&IDs (compressed air, fire water, freshwater, potable water, sewage, wastewater, etc.) in conjunction with Building Services
- Develop Material Class sheets and Valve data sheets
- Develop Piping Design Criteria, Specifications, Line Lists, Valve Lists, and Specialty Items Lists
- Developing and maintaining positive, sustainable client relationships
- Familiar with pre-fabricated spool pieces
- Knowledge of leaching at high temperatures and with 34% HCl acid at a low-pressure gaseous mixture. Scrubbing effect. HCl acid gets precipitated.
- Need to produce isometrics for the ductwork
- Piping Engineering design related to mining and metal processing, specifically gold, magnesium, copper, lithium, and chemical processing
- Preparation of piping material specs – especially exotic piping
- Prepare stress analysis calculations (stress analysis with CAESAR II, supports and anchor design, etc.)
- Prepare system design calculations (system sizing and hydraulics)
- Production of piping deliverables on the production
- Sizing of air and scrubbing ductwork.
- Supervision of piping resources for both piping engineers and designers. In charge of the management of drafting of P&IDs.
- Welding procedures of exotic materials – super duplex materials
- Write specifications and contract documents as well as review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
- Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
- Current legal eligibility to work in Canada
- Being familiar with Russian Engineering Codes and language will be an asset
- Must be willing to relocate and work in Oakville at your own expense if not from the area
- No relocation allowance, or any type of living allowance.
