Job Profile
The company is searching for a Lead Welder who will support the onsite welding operations.
Educational Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 3+ years of welding experience. MIG welding is a must
- Previous Lead experience (preferred)
- Experienced in a fast-paced production environment (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter
- Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turns regulator valves to activate the flow of gases, lights torch, and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain the desired flame. Holds & guides torch at the proper angle to cut metal
- Must regularly lift or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift or move 90 lbs.
- Must regularly stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
- Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces
- Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks
- Scarfs or grooves welds and parts
- Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines
- Works as a Lead Welder, supporting our welding operation onsite in Houston
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to read blueprints and measuring tape
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Able to pass all EHS-required tests and clearances
- Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading, fractions, and decimals
