Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Lean Engineering Manager who will be responsible for the overall development and administration of the plant Lean/CI, Engineering and tooling, and maintenance departments.

The primary responsibilities will be to establish and review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement, waste reduction, review inspection techniques, and measurement systems, establish plant quality and advanced project goals, along with the individual employee goals.

The position will work with technical personnel to obtain capital needs, launch strategy, project timing, process flows, manage labor and machine standards.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering from a college or university.

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience in process/manufacturing engineering fundamentals.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Authorizes Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s), process alerts, expense accounts, purchase orders, equipment spare parts inventory, and personnel training requests.
  • Communicate department goals and objectives, evaluate staff performance, coach and develop staff.
  • Define, manage, measure, and report relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Develops short- and long-term strategy to support customer requirements
  • Ensures final output of machine designs are functional, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.
  • Implement approved department budget and monitor expenses to ensure they fall within budgets, analyze out-of-budget expenses, and ensure they are offset in other areas of the project unless fully justified.
  • Lead by example.
  • Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain and expand the company’s welding procedures, process, inspection, and certification requirements to standards.
  • Manage safety as an equal to other key functions, conduct evaluations.
  • Monitor utility costs and institutes methods for conservation.
  • Review engineering releases for completeness and accuracy, documenting engineering errors and omissions through engineering change requests.
  • Submit and justify all working capital requirements
  • Supports the statistical process control (SPC) program.
  • Track program open items list and Cost Savings
  • Understand the business environment and work closely with other departments to efficiently drive team progress, and to ensure that projects align with strategic and tactical objectives.

  • Ability to fully support sales activities for technical solutions in the Metals Industry
  • Ability to lead a team and work jointly across departments
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors for facilities/buildings maintenance
  • Able to Work in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Advanced knowledge of technical solutions for the Metals Industry
  • Analytical skills and ability to interpret data
  • Computer-assisted programming
  • Decision making, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Fabrication and welding
  • Green or Black Belt Certified Highly Preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing Expert
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Mechanical design fundamentals (CAD, SolidWorks preferred)
  • Metal cutting tools
  • Quality processes (six sigma preferred)
  • Safety standards
  • Written and verbal communication skills
