Job Profile

The company is hiring a Machine Arc Welder who will weld together metal components of products, as specified by layout, shop drawings, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric or robotic arc-welding equipment.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 1-year experience in Machine Arc Welder or Hand Arc Welding
  • Machine Arc Welders assigned to W/C 06 (Commercial) are required to hold ASME Certification.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • As directed or assigned welds in flat or horizontal positions. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • As directed or assigned, is responsible for making minor controller adjustments to weld equipment torch path.
  • Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by work instructions, engineering, or supervision.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices required by Company, federal, and state guidelines.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
  • May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding.
  • Must be capable of manipulating robot in robotic weld cell using teach-pendant.
  • Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable or stationary welding equipment.
  • Practice and support Rheem values with internal as well as external customers.
  • Responsible for the operation of welding machines/equipment, setting up and synchronizing the proper welding time and heat settings based on tank configuration, or flue bundle configuration.
  • Responsible for resetting minor robotic welder faults, as assigned or directed.
  • Work from written or verbal orders, work instructions, sketches, diagrams, and shop drawings.
  • Contributes to the TEAM effort by performing other duties as required.

Working Environment

  • Candidates may be exposed to high noise levels, ultraviolet light, and almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, extreme temperatures, and potentially hazardous materials.

Physical Demands

  • Continuous lifting of 60+ lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently lift in unsupported positions.
  • Must be able to stand/walk/lift repetitively during shift.
  • Must be able to bend, twist/turn, reach, push and pull.
  • Must have vision acceptable to identify proper welds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and/or lift repetitively during shift.
  • Additional requirements of the position include: manual dexterity, good eyesight, and adequate eye-hand coordination
