Job Profile
The company is searching for a Machine Operator who will set up and operate metal fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws, lasers, and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes according to blueprints and specifications
Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
Educational Qualification
- High School Education (preferred)
Work Experience
- Manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Must have experience with hand-measuring tools
- Must understand oxy-fuel/plasma burning, and CNC programming and have sufficient computer skills to run required programs and troubleshoot issues.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adjusts controls to set and regulate machining factors, such as pressure and depth of ram stroke, adjustment rolls, blade angle, and machine speed.
- Complete paperwork for tracking of product.
- Be responsible for operating a fork truck to move material from different workstations.
- Immediately report all unsafe conditions and product that does not meet quality standards to the lead or supervisor.
- Inspects or measures work, using rules, gauges, and templates.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly at all times.
- Locates and marks bending or cutting lines and reference points on workpieces, using instruments, such as rules and compass, or by tracing from templates.
- May be assigned to one machine on a consistent basis.
- Positions and clamps the stops, guides, and turntables.
- Positions work piece against stops and guides or align layout marks with dies or cutting blades manually or using a hoist.
- Selects, positions, and secures dies, blades, cutters, and fixtures onto the machine, using rule, square, shims, templates, hand tools, and built-in gauges.
- Starts machine and observes machine operation to reposition workpiece, change dies, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.
- All other duties are assigned by the lead or supervisor.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be able to be certified in the use of an overhead crane
- Must have good oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands
- Ability to view a computer monitor
- Occasional alpha/numeric keyboarding
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Standing or walking up to 100% of the time
