Job Profile

The company is hiring a Machine Operator/Grinder who will set up and operate various types of grinding equipment to level off and finish grind to specifications all fabricated

Education Level

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED (required)

Work Experience

• Manufacturing/production experience (desired but not required)
• Forklift operation experience (desired but not required)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Keeps work area clean and orderly and maintains proper care of equipment.
• Must be a team player who exhibits excellent communication/interpersonal skills; motivated to work in a highly participative environment and understand and believe in the Lean Manufacturing Principles (5’s, single piece flow, KanBan, etc.).
• Must be capable of operating pneumatic hand tools, shotblaster, sandblaster, and beadblaster.
• Must be capable of setting up and operating all grinding equipment including but not limited to wheel, disc, and belt grinders, and pneumatic or electric grinders.
• Must self-inspect their products to maintain quality and quantity standards.
• Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
• Performs all work following established safety procedures.
• Must perform any other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Capable of working extended hours to meet customer demands.
• Must be capable of reading and interpreting all shop orders.
• Must have the ability to work from verbal and written instructions.
• Required to change and dress wheels, discs, or mounted points when necessary.
• Required to level off and finish grind, to specifications, concentrations of excess metals, weld splatters, weld seams, metal burrs, and break edges.

Physical Demands

• Moderate lifting (11-50 lbs.), moderate pushing (11-50 lbs.)
• Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, and move/walk throughout the facility
• Regularly required to listen, talk to, and see co-workers and managers daily

Work Environment

• Large industrial facility
• Manufacturing/production work areas and equipment related to product assembly and assembly lines, metal forming and metal fabrication, welding/grinding, product finishing/painting, product transport/material handling, etc.
• Overtime is not standard but can be frequent based on seasonal workload
• Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
