Job Profile

The company is looking for a Machine Operator I who will run the plasma table and play a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products with the operation and setup of CNC machinery.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe operating procedures are followed throughout projects
  • Inspects and performs minor maintenance on all assigned machines
  • Maintains a neat and orderly workstation with equipment in safe operating condition
  • Maintains appropriate levels of immediate on-hand inventory and reorders when appropriate
  • Maintains shop equipment, tools, and production records
  • May perform initial rolling of both inners/outers and prepare for tack and seam welding to supplement manpower
  • Operates CNC plasma table for cutting piece parts and steel plate
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
  • Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements
  • Selects and sets cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties
  • Verifies conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Computer skills involving Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Experience using CNC software, preferably Machitech Pronest
  • Familiarity with measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools
  • Overtime, weekend hours, and split shifts, as needed
  • Previous experience with machine/equipment operation

Work Environment

  • Exposure to metal cutting and welding odors
  • Exposure to occasional flying debris
  • Exposure to overhead objects
  • Frequent carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling
  • May involve exposure to temperature extremes
  • Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI-approved steel-toed safety shoes, welding helmets, and hard hats, (in designated areas)
