Job Profile

The company is searching for a Machine Operator (Plasma Operator) who will set up and operate our Plasma cut table as well as WaterJet for various sheet metal thicknesses from 0.078” to 3.5” plate steel.

Responsible for ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the machining process.

Education Level

• High School or better (preferred)

Work Experience

• 1-2 years of related experience or training (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Material Handling: Unloads skeleton and parts using overhead crane, jib crane, or magnets. Cleans and deburrs all cut parts to be free of slag and burrs.
• Plasma Operation: Sets up machine by retrieving and loading large, heavy plates of steel using overhead crane, downloading program, entering parameters of job, selecting type of cut, and cutting first piece. Operates the cut table by monitoring cutting and adjusting heat in torches, pre-heat times, and pierce rate.
• Multi-Tasking-
• Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking material thickness and dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, tape measure, and calculator.
• Cleans the burn table and performs minor preventative maintenance such as checking coolant levels and gases, and changing or adjusting them as needed. Change oxyfuel tips.
• Completes the Plasma operator maintenance log.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment

• Exposed to bright light, fumes, and loud noise
• Often stands for long periods and handles heavy materials
• Operates plasma cutting machines in high-heat environments
• Requires wearing protective gear like gloves and goggles
• Works in manufacturing or metal fabrication facilities
