Job Profile
The company is looking for a Machinist who will handle mid-level parts on a CNC Vertical Machining Center
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
License/Certification
- Certificate in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent
Duties/Responsibilities
- Calibrate probes each week
- Check the accuracy of your measurement tools against the company standards
- Cleans and inspects equipment to avoid breakdowns
- Fabricate and modify/and repair machine parts.
- Fit and assemble parts as per instructions or print using hand tools and machinery
- Indicate and calibrate tool measurement arms as needed
- Indicate the vises for alignment each week
- Keeps work area clean and neat and complies with all safety standards
- Lay out, measure, and mark materials
- Load/unload tools in the tool magazine and the Tool Data page
- Monitors quality and makes tool changes and adjustments as required.
- Must also be able to fabricate, modify, or repair machine parts.
- Observe the machines during the machining process to verify correct speeds and feeds, and for machine potential malfunctions
- Performs in-process checks of parts so that adjustments can be made before a nonconformance occurs or a large number of parts are machined out of specifications.
- Program and set up advanced-level parts
- Read the blueprint, then verify and check parts to print dimensions as machined
- Select proper materials, machines, and tools to manufacture parts as required
- Study blueprints, sketches, or drawings, and engineering information to determine the best methods and sequences to produce parts
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Be able to do shop mathematics, including trigonometry
- Blueprint reading skills
- Knowledge of feeds and speeds
- Must be able to operate a variety of machines (CNC machines, manual lathes, manual milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and layout tools) to produce precision machine parts to print specifications.
- Proficient measurement skills (mics, calipers, indicators, etc.)
Health/Safety
- Attend required EHS training
- Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations, as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
- Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures.
- Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
- Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EHS procedures.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear
- Frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently work from ladders and scaffolds.
- Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
