Job Profile
The company is hiring a Machinist who will load and unload parts in the operation of 2-5 axis CNC/Automated mill and lathe machine tools to produce complex machined aerospace parts.
Responsible for in-process inspection of machined products, which requires basic competencies in shop math, hand-measuring tools, and documentation.
Responsible for some deburr operations as well as basic preventative machine maintenance, which includes coolant and lube levels and area cleanliness.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
- 1-year certificate from a College or Technical Trade School (preferred)
Work Experience
- 1+ years of related experience or training (required)
- Experience in manufacturing (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to adjust offsets
- Ability to load and indicate fixtures
- Ability to operate mills and grinders.
- Ability to operate CNC equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g. Quality and Safety).
- Have a basic understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerance)
- Knowledge of basic machine setup and tool selection.
- Knowledge of basic machine work settings and toll offsets
- Knowledge of Lathe Setup
- Maintain accuracy by setting up first run proofing
- Maintain machine control “distance to go”
- Maintain SPC Control
- Manage tool wear to ensure part protection
- Perform proper inspections of general tools, such as but not limited to height gauges, bore gauges, profilometer, etc.
- Respond to machining process quality queues “i.e. Surface Finish” to ensure quality
- The ability to operate 2x Lathes simultaneously
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications
- The ability to maintain accuracy by setting up first-run proofing
- The ability to operate 2x lathes simultaneously
- The ability to set up a machine and basic tool selection
- The ability to understand GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerance)
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand; walk and sit.
- Occasionally lifts or moves up to 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
