Job Profile
The company is hiring a Machinist who will perform repairs and fabrications of components for a variety of mechanical systems including AC/DC motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, turbines, and more.
Use manual machinery such as lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, and grinders, and will also be involved in electroplating processes.
Requires a strong knowledge of machine procedures, mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, and layout, with a focus on precision and quality.
This is a non-CNC position.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical certification in machining or related field (a plus)
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist, with proficiency in using manual lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, grinders, and electroplating.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Apply electroplating processes as required to enhance component durability and functionality.
- Diagnose issues with damaged or worn components and determine the most effective method of repair or fabrication.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining procedures, dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Maintain equipment and machinery in optimal working condition, performing routine inspections and basic maintenance as needed.
- Perform repairs and fabrication of components for motors, generators, pumps, turbines, and gearboxes using manual lathes, mills, shapers, drill presses, and grinders.
- Select appropriate materials for fabrication, taking into consideration their properties and suitability for the application.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions on time.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure components meet exact specifications and tolerances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with repair of AC/DC motors, generators, pumps, and turbines.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to machining and electroplating.
- Prior experience with electroplating.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical problems efficiently.
- Ability to lift heavy components and stand for extended periods. Capable of using hand tools and operating manual machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Solid understanding of machining procedures, mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
