Job Profile
The company is searching for a Machinist who will machine quality parts in a cost-effective manner, which will be used in the production of surgical equipment and related items or contracted business.
Education Level
- High School Graduate or GED (required)
- Technical degree (preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of machinist experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Calculate and set machine controls to regulate machining repeatability, such as speeds, feeds, and overrides. The ability to enter command codes to retrieve machine data for program restarts and alarms
- Conform to all policies, procedures, and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee handbook, Bulletin
- Consistent proficiency in setting up and effectively operating a multitude of CNC and Conventional machines, such as Mills, Lathes, Grinders, etc., while effectively maintaining the specified print tolerances noted
- Immediately report all safety-related issues, irregularities, and discrepancies relating to job functions and assignments
- Keep and maintain a clean and orderly work environment while instituting the 5S principles of Lean Manufacturing
- Read and interpret STERIS® blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including
- Remain safety conscious at all times, wearing all the required safety equipment for your work area. Conform to all safety rules and policies stated in the employee handbook
- Use precision measuring devices, gages, and instruments to thoroughly inspect and ensure that parts meet the print tolerances and in-process dimensions
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the leadership team
- Ability to make decisions and stay quality-focused
- Ability to read and interpret current engineering blueprints and production specifications.
- Ability to set up and operate CNC and conventional Lathes and Mills.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
- Assist with training other operators.
- Knowledge, understanding, and application of Lean Manufacturing tools, such as 5S, Kanban Inventory,
- Strong math skills and the ability to apply them.
- Visual Management, Waste elimination, and Root Cause Problem Solving are preferred.
