Job Profile

The company is looking for a Machinist II who will be responsible for setting up and running a variety of CNC or non-CNC-controlled machines. Equipment will include lathes, grinders, mills, and EDM.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of machining or assembly experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions, procedures, and drawings.
  • Assist or instruct others in daily activities as needed.
  • Conduct test audits.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of materials
  • Familiar with TIG welding
  • Familiarity with EDM setup and operation
  • Familiarity with GD&T per ASMEY14.5-1994
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and PC’s
  • Maintain a satisfactory level of performance while following appropriate procedures and observing all pertinent safety rules and requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge and ability levels to efficiently perform all assigned work and utilize this knowledge base to become proficient on new/unfamiliar assignments.
  • Make necessary adjustments to correct irregular or non-confirming assemblies.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be willing to work effectively as a participative team member.
  • Must demonstrate manual dexterity and a willingness to learn.
  • Operate required test equipment and verify the calibration of such equipment.
  • Perform a variety of approved assembly techniques.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tooling as required and directed.
  • Proficient using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and comparators
  • Read and understand product and process drawing procedures and quality requirements
  • Read, interpret, and understand assembly drawings, procedures, and instructions
  • With limited direct supervision, set up and operate conventional and CNC machines such as vertical and horizontal mills, and lathes.
  • Working knowledge of CAM software with the ability to program offline using “G” code programming
  • Works closely with supervision and other team members to ensure that production requirements are met; appropriate tooling and hardware are available; machine maintenance and tool availability and assists with workflow schedules.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be familiar with GD&T and product drawings such that a part may be machined directly from the product drawing with little direct supervision.
  • Must also be familiar with gauging and fixture design and be able to recommend appropriate inspection and assembly techniques for newly developed products.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required and the technician must be able to communicate well to team leaders, and peers.
  • Must be able to perform assembly and test duties as well.
