Job Profile

The company is looking for a Maintenance Fabricator who can perform the fabrication process on metal components (carbon, steel, galvanneal, stainless steel, etc.), using several types of general and specific equipment, in the production of semi-trailers.

Typical equipment used consists of brake presses, shears, and additional specialized equipment that allows for the shaping or cutting of metal components.

Educational Qualification

• The applicants may be required a High School Diploma or GED.

Work Experience

• Proven experience as a welder (MIG and stick)
• Experience with manual mill and/or lathe not required but preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

• Align components using a tape measure, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
• Create jigs and fixtures that improve product assembly
• Cut material with a band saw to match prints
• Great Dane Terre Haute is expanding
• Read blueprints and drawings, take or read measurements to plan layout and weld procedures.
• Reports to Maintenance Supervisor
• Set up components for welding according to specifications. Some jobs will have verbal specifications, but not a formal drawing.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).

• Ability to operate a band saw, forklift, drill press properly and safely
• Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner
• Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures
• Desire to improve plant safety and environmental conditions
• Excellent communicator, in verbal and written forms
• Read blueprints
• Self-starter capable of completing job duties with medium to low supervision
• Strong problem-solving abilities
