Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Maintenance I who will perform maintenance activities such as equipment, buildings, grounds, utilities, and other devices on a 24/7 schedule in order to maintain a corn milling operation safely and efficiently, complying with food safety and process quality standards.

Constructs, repairs, installs and removes various machines, equipment, and piping.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants require a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent

Work Experience

• Completion of an apprenticeship program or 3 years of equivalent maintenance experience (preferred)
• Experience as a welder. Able to weld regular steel (preferred)
• Basic PC/Laptop hardware and software knowledge and experience (preferred)
• LOTO training and experience (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Abide by all company rules and policies as well as good manufacturing practices
• All duties include general area housekeeping responsibilities
• All job duties require attention to safe operation and demonstration of safe work habits and behaviors. This includes the use of appropriate personal protective equipment for the job task.
• Cuts, threads, and fits pipes
• Does necessary carpentry and concrete work
• Installs and maintains insulation on equipment, piping, ducts, and spouting
• Installs, maintains, replaces, moves, aligns, or removes equipment, machines, piping, or any other production or maintenance devices
• Makes repairs to and checks machines and equipment for correct operation
• Observes all Safety and Food Safety guidelines and use proper safety equipment at all times
• Operates fork trucks
• Operates Maintenance Shop tools including but not limited to drills, saws, grinders, welders, plasma cutter, oxyacetylene torch, etc.
• Performs mechanical operations necessary for the construction, installation, repair, and operation of equipment and devices of the plant
• Reads and interprets drawings and layouts
• Rebuild, repair, and replace damaged, defective or worn parts
• Sets up and operates the equipment necessary to perform all functions of the craft
• Works at all areas of the plant including, indoors, outdoors, or in confined spaces, and working at heights with the proper PPE
• Complete any and all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Desired Additional Activities-

• Operation of boom lifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, etc.
• Operation of Milling and packaging equipment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to read and understand SOPs, prints, and manuals (required)
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment (required)
• Able to drive a fork truck safely (required)
• Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and good verbal/written communication skills (required)
• Demonstrated ability to work in a safety-conscious environment (required)
• Good organizational and communication skills (required)
• Must be able to proficiently read and write in English for the purposes of record keeping and safety training and processes.
• Must be willing to work overtime and varied schedules as necessitated by operations

Language Requirements-

• Able to read and write in English is required for the purposes of record keeping and training
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is (preferred)
