Job Profile

The company is searching for a Maintenance Lead who will perform and communicate maintenance on conveyors, screens, crushers, and other plant equipment. The various types of maintenance are preventative, predictive, and general repair.

Assist with supervising a small crew of roughly 7(+/-) employees, promote safety, perform assigned duties, delegate tasks, verify correct work procedures are followed, develop repair procedures, steel fabrication, and solve problems with little direct supervision.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or progressive leadership experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience related to heavy-duty maintenance jobs or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in the aggregates industry
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist management in developing profit plans, AFE’S, and monthly forecast
  • Basic fabrication including utilizing a welder and torch.
  • Be responsible for scheduling and organizing employees to accomplish daily work regarding production and maintenance
  • Communicate with management and Human Resources on Employee Relations Concerns
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and energy level toward teammates, peers, and customers
  • Lead a maintenance/production workforce
  • Maintain an excellent work/safety record with a high standard of performance and production
  • Maintain housekeeping and appearance standards as established for all active and non-active mine site areas
  • Perform simple and intermediate-type diagnosis repairs without constant supervision
  • Perform standard office duties, plant maintenance/production reports, maintain the work order system
  • Work closely with management to ensure the implementation of scheduled maintenance on all equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to travel long distances by car or other commercial means, overnight at times
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Computer skills are required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with oxy/acetylene torch and stick welding, Mig a plus
  • Must be able to field layout and fabricate in steel
  • Must be able to identify and order basic parts (bearings, idlers, screens, pulleys)
  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, safety reflective vest, full body harness, welding hood
  • Understand team-based management

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to operate foot pedals with both feet
  • Ability to operate hand controls with both hands
  • Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
  • Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 100 feet
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather
  • Ability to use vibration tools
  • Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
  • Ability to work in cramped quarters
  • Lift objects of various dimensions and weights
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Vision: Normal depth perception, vision, and ability to distinguish color

Working Conditions

  • Larger equipment is typically air-conditioned.
  • Outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet or dry, and dusty.
  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dB
