The company (Howmet Fastening Systems-HFS) is searching for a Maintenance Mechanic to join its team for manufacturing facility.
Educational Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience
- Minimum 4 years of related experience or training
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform skilled mechanical work to install, maintain, repair, or modify manufacturing plant equipment, building and fixtures.
- Repair, plant equipment by cleaning, adjusting, or replacing parts such as air, gas, water, oil, and other hydraulic lines, pumps, motors, valves, gauges, control mechanisms, filters, gearboxes, belts, gears, pulleys, shafts, bearings, gaskets, seals, filters, handles, fire bricks in furnace, etc.
- Diagnose mechanical malfunctions of plant equipment to identify causes and determine appropriate course of action to restore to safe and efficient operating condition.
- Fabricate, install, or rebuild metal parts, equipment and fixtures such as braces, brakes, handles, pans, baskets, racks, tanks, cages, rails, doors, latches, chutes, stools, benches, etc., by cutting, grinding, welding, brazing, and bolting as required.
- Inspect plant equipment such as forklift, hydraulic lift hand trucks, furnace compressors, pumps, etc. to identify needs for cleaning, adjustment, repair and/or replacement.
- Install machine and equipment by moving into place mounting non-energized motors, and connecting air, water, gas, and oil lines, pumps, and other mechanical parts.
- Install, maintain, modify, and repair building and plumbing systems. Include cutting and threading steel pipe, cutting and soldering copper pipe, cutting and cementing PVC pipe, and connecting to joints, valves, tanks, builds, erects, constructs or modifies buildings, offices and structures as required.
- May assist with the installation or repair of electrical systems by installing conduit, pulling wires, and replacing switches, power cords, etc.
- May perform general maintenance work such as repairing and painting walls, doors, desks, chairs, and other woodwork, replacing broken windows, etc.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to speak before other employees of the organization.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
- Special vision required, such as close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
