Job Profile

The company is hiring a Maintenance Person who will perform work of moderate difficulty in the various skilled trades, including, but not limited to, machine maintenance and repair, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, electrical and plant layout, inside and outside of the various Jeld-Wen production plants and facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance on machinery, mechanical equipment, or the structure of any Jeld-Wen facility.
• Replaces wires, electrical receptacles, fixtures, and motors; Repairs minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or the appropriate compound and paint.
• Performs basic plumbing work in replacing and repairing sinks, water coolers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures.
• Repairs wood or concrete floors, steps, stairs, and sidewalks.
• Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles, hang doors, install door locks, and replace broken window panes.
• Repairs items using welding and machining tools. Installs, balances, and aligns existing and new equipment.
• Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and tools and notifies supervisor when to reorder.
• Gathers the necessary information, and reads schematics, blueprints, work orders, and associated documentation to perform the aforementioned duties.
• Works with appropriate facility personnel to mitigate breakdowns and to ensure the end product meets the production standards and guidelines in conjunction with quality control objectives.
• Assists the Maintenance II and III positions and management to achieve the goals and objectives of Jeld-Wen as written above.
• Maintains the machinery and equipment in a clean, orderly, and operational condition while following prescribed safety regulations.
• Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel-toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment to be on the plant floor; maintaining/repairing the machinery and equipment, and performing the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner; Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and operate hand tools.
• Occasionally or frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds or more.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations, and loud noises.
