The company is recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor for the SDC1200 at the Bluegrass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant project.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- Possess 6 years of related industrial maintenance experience with 2 years of supervisory experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service, or manufacturing plant in one or more of the following crafts – pipefitter, boilermaker, welder, millwright, plant mechanic, or HVAC, painting, special coatings, carpentry or scaffold erection.
- Completion of formal apprenticeship or similar accredited training program (such as vocational, trade, commercial, or military) in the mechanical field or journeyman certification and 4 years of related industrial maintenance experience with 2 years of supervisory experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service, or manufacturing plant in one or more of the following crafts – pipe fitter, boilermaker, welder, millwright, plant mechanic, or heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), painting, special coatings, carpentry or scaffold erection.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist superintendents in planning and coordinating instrumentation/electrical work orders.
- Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
- Brief management daily concerning administrative, mechanical, and operation-related issues.
- Demonstrate and conduct any required inspection and testing of equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensure systems are returned to operational conditions.
- Demonstrate effective communication and reinforce performance expectations to all subordinates
- Demonstrate effective monitoring of fieldwork status to timely communication to the management team progress, issues, and recommended actions to move forward.
- Develop technical solutions and work around to address maintenance-related problems.
- Direct and perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components. Investigate operational reports of equipment failure and analyze system characteristics to determine the cause of failure and necessary corrective action.
- Direct application of appropriate welding procedures in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping and mechanical systems.
- Direct emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components.
- Direct fabrication of mechanical parts, piping, and components consistent with engineering specifications by utilizing standard machine shop equipment.
- Direct general maintenance functions towards the repair and maintenance of equipment or modification of existing systems in support of changes to plant system configuration.
- Direct mechanical trade functions towards the installation of new equipment or modification of existing systems in support of changes to plant system configuration.
- Direct repair of mechanical parts, piping, and components consistent with engineering specifications by utilizing standard machine shop equipment.
- Direct the replacement of worn, damaged, or failed equipment and components in support of facility operations.
- Ensure communication is distributed between management and craft personnel.
- Ensure electrical and instrumentation and control technicians follow a predetermined checklist in the performance of preventative maintenance of facility equipment and systems.
- Ensure General Maintenance Workers follow a predetermined checklist in the performance of preventative maintenance of facility mechanical equipment and systems.
- Ensure Mechanical Technicians follow a predetermined checklist in the performance of preventative maintenance of facility mechanical equipment and systems.
- Ensure subordinates are trained, certified, and proficient in the work assigned
- Ensure subordinates perform all work in compliance with applicable procedures, work documents, environmental permits, and regulations with quality and workmanship through effective job monitoring
- Ensures subordinates follow all site and job safety requirements
- Experience in painting, special coatings, scaffold erection, and general carpentry.
- Influence planning, scheduling, and procedural change.
- Initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions (such as interviews, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, scheduling, or approving overtime).
- Interpret designs, drawings, and operations and maintenance manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in electrical/instrumentation equipment, components, and systems.
- Investigate operational reports of equipment failure and analyze system characteristics to determine the cause of failure and necessary corrective action.
- Involved in the installation of piping, pumps, valves, and other associated mechanical equipment in support of plant modifications and repairs.
- May be required to fill in during the absence of the Maintenance Superintendent.
- May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work.
- Monitor work progress to ensure that work is performed safely and in a professional manner.
- Must serve as an Emergency Response Team Member.
- Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
- Provide expertise and knowledge in the investigation/diagnostics/analysis of equipment performance and component failures to determine effective corrective actions and performance improvements
- Provide field direction and supervision to subordinates in the performance of repair/replacement, modification, testing, and new installation of process components and equipment.
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, and schedule execution of work instructions and demonstrate accountability for the performance of assigned work.
- Provide timely, clear, and constructive feedback to subordinates on meeting performance expectations.
- Supervise and coordinate craft activities. Maintain the quality and workmanship of craft personnel according to project standards and specifications. Coordinate labor effort and equipment to meet the schedule.
- Under general supervision, provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a subordinate group.
- Utilize designs and drawings to plan and layout installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and ensure applicable project specifications and industry standards are adequately satisfied.
- Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with a computerized maintenance management system such as MAXIMO or other industry standard planning software
- Experienced with Project Management Information Systems (P2) or other scheduling software
- Have a working knowledge of the design, operation, and maintenance of process equipment
- Have working knowledge of plant process equipment including utility systems, building codes/other design requirements (including reading blueprints): Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and quality control manuals
- Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
- Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of this position, including any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency, or emergency requirement
- Skilled with hand and power tools, test equipment, mobile and fixed cranes, and other material-handling equipment
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety/environmental regulations and practices
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the operation, systemization, and start-up of electrical systems
- Experience writing maintenance plans and procedures and work order planning
- Industrial experience in plant systems and processes of demilitarization, nuclear or chemical work environment
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Proficient in trade skill level mathematics and maintenance instrument and electrical skills.
- Able to effectively communicate using oral and written reports and instructions
- Able to read and interpret designs, drawings, layouts, and specifications in performance duties
- Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
